Four day Youth festival ‘Sangam-2015’ concludes

BHADERWAH, Dec 1: The four day Chenab Valley Youth Festival ‘SANGAM-2015’ concluded here today with the distributions of prizes among the participants.
The Youth Festival was organized by Bhaderwah Campus in collaboration with 4 Rashtryia Rifles (Bihar) to promote everlasting peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir especially in the Chenab Valley.
The Closing Ceremony of the mega event was organized in presence of chief guest, General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) and Prof GM Bhat, Rector Bhaderwah Campus.
A large number of Civil and Military dignitaries, persons from Civil Administration, Police Department, CRPF, prominent citizens of Bhaderwah, Principals and Teachers of Colleges/ Schools witnessed the colourful valedictory function.
The event also witnessed participation of approximately 300 students and teachers from 8 Colleges including Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, Islamia Faridia College, Kishtwar, Government Degree Colleges of Bhaderwah, Doda, Kisthwar, Kilotran and Chhatru.
A total of 800 persons including Military, civil and students attended the closing ceremony.
The mega event “SANGAM-15” was inaugurated by Sunil Sharma, Minister of State for R&B and Revenue and Professor R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University on November 28th in presence of a large number of Civil and Military dignitaries and Principals, teachers and students from participating colleges/Schools.
The General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Delta), who was the chief guest in his address stressed on empowerment of youth and the role, the Army can play in achieving the same. He assured the local populace of continued and unconditional support in shaping the future of the students through many opportunities by Army. The Closing Ceremony ended with prize distribution to all the students, winners and runners-up players of individual events with trophies for group events. The second runners-up trophy was bagged by Govt Degree College Kishtwar, first runners-up trophy was bagged by Govt. Degree College, Doda while the winners of Chenab Valley Youth Festival, “SANGAM-2015” were Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu. They were awarded the Champions trophy by the chief guest, General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Delta). Professor G M Bhat, Rector, Bhadarwah Campus, University of Jammu in his address appreciated the efforts of the Army and said “Through Sadhbhavana, Army not only contributed to the development in hard infrastructure including institutions but has also taken up the development of youth through the venture like Cultural Events & Educational Seminar and many more activities.
