JAMMU, Apr 30: District Bandipora emerged as champions of the ‘League of Classic’ Inter-District UT Level U-17 Boys Football Tournament, defeating District Kupwara in a thrilling final at Khel Gaon Nagrota. Kupwara finished as runners-up, while District Srinagar secured third place in the tournament.
Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu, the tournament concluded today after witnessing enthusiastic participation from all districts of the Union Territory. Around 300 players took part, showcasing impressive talent and competitive spirit throughout the event.
In the final, Bandipora edged past Kupwara by 5-3 via tie-breaker, while Srinagar defeated Jammu by 3-2, also through a tie-breaker, to claim third position.
The technical committee, led by convenor Rohit Gupta and members Taranpal Singh, Varinder Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Naveen Singh, Devinder Singh, and Somander Singh, ensured smooth conduct of the league-cum-knockout tournament despite hot weather conditions.
DYSSO Jammu felicitated the winners with medals and certificates, encouraging players to uphold sportsmanship and continue striving for excellence in football.
