Army organizes Archery tourney in Zanskar

KARGIL, June 28: To commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas, Army, in collaboration with the Zanskar Archery Association, hosted an archery tournament in Zanskar, celebrating local culture, community, and sporting spirit.
The event was graced by Executive Councillor Er. Phunchok Tashi as chief guest, along with Col. Yogender Singh Tomar, Col. S.P. Deepak, and Squadron Leader Gayatri (Retd). Presidents of the Zanskar Buddhist Association, Ex-Servicemen Association, and Merchant Association also attended.
Sixteen teams participated, with Horker Poyen Kargil winning the tournament. Javed Shah (Friend Club Padum) won Gold and Rs 50,000, Stanzin Lundup (Ibex Salapi) took Silver (Rs 3,000) and Ghulam Khadir won Bronze (Rs 2,000). Cultural performances by women’s groups from Skidshirak and Kumik Village added colour to the occasion. The event also included development site visits to Mentsekhang and Police Quarters.
