JAMMU, May 14: Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Dy CEO), Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Mohan Dass in presence of Ashok Kumar, Director Sports SMVDSB and other dignitaries flagged off a 76-member trekking contingent from Youth Hostel, Nagrota, near here today.
The contingent comprised of the students drawn from 6 schools of Reasi and adjoining areas including Nomain and Panthal.
The trekkers began their over 15 kilometers journey from Bamiyal Nagrota and had to pass through dense forests and rocky hills after passing through Drabi, Oli Temple and Deva Maai to finally conclude at Katra.
The event is being organised by the Sports Department of SMVDSB in association with the experts from Bharat Scouts and Guides, J&K.
While, speaking during the flag off ceremony, Ashok Kumar said that the objective of the programme was to provide an opportunity to the youth to know nature and learn things through adventurous mode of learning.
Apart from the chief guest, Mohan Dass, eminent Educationist and State Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides, ID Soni also spoke on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were MM Sharma, Dr Gursharan and Sehaj Singh.
