KATHUA, May 24: The 75th edition of the “Sundays on Cycle” initiative under the Fit India Movement was organised by 19 JKAP IR, Kathua, under the guidance of Commandant Atul Sharma. The event aimed to promote physical fitness, healthy living, and eco-friendly transport among the masses.
The cycle rally was flagged off from the Battalion Headquarters and passed through Changran, Nagri Adda, GWDC and DPL Kathua, culminating at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, Kathua. Around 110 participants took part in the event, including children from nearby villages, members of civil society, media persons and officers/officials of the battalion.
At the park, a brief felicitation programme was held where refreshments were provided to all participants. The Commandant encouraged citizens to adopt regular exercise, cycling, cleanliness, and a drug-free lifestyle. He also highlighted the significance of the Fit India initiative in creating awareness about health and fitness across the country and motivating youth towards disciplined living.
Participants, especially children, expressed gratitude to J&K Police for organizing the event and pledged to remain committed to fitness and a drug-free life. The rally concluded back at the Battalion Headquarters after covering approximately 10 kilometres and ended peacefully with refreshments distributed to all participants.
