SRINAGAR, June 19: 7-A-Side North Zone Men’s Hockey Tournament-2019 was inaugurated in an impressive, colourful and well attended opening ceremony at Amar Singh College ground, here today.
Prof Shaheen Altaf, Principal, Amar Singh College was the chief guest on the occasion.
Prominent among other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Dr Harbaksh Singh, Chairman, Amrit Charitable Trust, Dr Humayun Qaiser, Inderjit Singh (Member, GPC Budgam), Gazi Shakeel (Director, Greenend Corps), Ravinder Kour (Physical Director, AS College), Dr Ujwala Kochhar (Physical Director, GDC Budgam), Dr Surjeet Kour (Sports Officer, KU).
Pertinently it is first of its kind of Men’s tournament organised in the Valley, wherein 28 teams are taking part, out of which 3 teams are from outside the State.
The tournament is being organised by Kashmir Hockey Academy (KHA) in collaboration with Amar Singh College and J&K State Sports Council. Prior to this tournament same kind of tournament was organised by KHA at University grounds.
In the 1st match, Khalsa Blue blanked DPS Srinagar by five goals to nil (5-0). Simran Jeetu Singh was adjudged as the man of the match.
In another match, Stadium XI Jammu defeated Jagjit Club Upliana by two goals to nil (2-0). Man of the match award was presented to Ishfaq Ahmed of winning team.
In the 3rd match Bikram Club thrashed Dr AGM City School by (8-0). Sharan Pal Singh got the man of the match award.
In the 4th match of the day, Birring Hockey Club Jallandar beat Rangreth B (5-0). Kanhaiya Kumar was adjudged as the man of the match.
