6th group of 45 Trekkers leave for Chamunda

JAMMU, June 14: As a part of the ongoing Silver Jubilee Himalayan Trekking Programme being organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K, sixth group of trekkers comprising 45 students of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar left today for Chamunda under the leadership of Sonam Sidharth, Joint Secretary of the club.
Three teachers of the school namely Arjun Singh, Rakesh Kumar and Shubamdeep Singh along with a senior member of Tawi Trekkers J&K Anil Kumar also accompanied the group.
The group was flagged off by Principal of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School Rameshwar Mengi in presence of staff members of the school and parents.
Meanwhile, the first three groups comprising of students of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Jammu, St Xavier Convent Higher Secondary School, Barnai, Jammu and Shangrilla Public School, Sarwal have reached back after a memorable experience of trekking in the Macleodganj area of Himachal Pradesh.
The aim of the Himalayan Trekking Programme was to take the students away from the scorching heat and dust, hustle and bustle and monotony of city life and to bring them closer to nature thereby imbibing in them a deep sense of love for adventure and Himalaya.
