44th Inter-Collegiate Annual Athletic Meet concludes at JU

JAMMU, Mar 16: The 44th Inter-Collegiate Annual Athletic Meet (Men & Women) concluded at the University of Jammu here this afternoon.
The Registrar, University of Jammu Dr. Meenakshi Kilam was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes among the winners of various events. Congratu-lating the medal winners and participants, Dr. Kilam appreciated the efforts of the Directorate for conducting the event and students from various colleges of the Jammu division post-graduate department of the University for the enthusiastic participation.
Dr. Kilam said that a lot of emphasis is given on sports in the University along with studies and it is proved by the fact that 44th Annual Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet in being organized in the 49th year of the University.
Earlier speaking on the occasion, Organizing Secretary & Director, Directorate of sports & Physical Education, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba said that participants have exhibited the spirit of competition and enthusiasm and congratulated the winners and participants for making this event a great success.
Dwelling on the details of the various events conducted during three days, Dr. Baba said that 25 colleges participated wherein 21 teams participated in Men Section with 258 participants while 16 teams in women section with 121 participants respectively.
The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Komal Nagar, In-charge Assistant Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education.
Prominent among were Dr KS Charak, President JUTA ,Prof Dipankar Sen Gupta, Prof Prikshat S Manhas, Prof Jasbir Singh, Prof Prakash Anthal,  Prof Vinay Chouhan, Dr AR Manhas, Prof SK Pandey, Prof Satya Paul, Ranjeet Kalra, XEN Suresh Sharma, Er Akash Bhola and  Atul Pangotra.
Today’s events were conducted by a technical panel of experts including Ramesh Sharma, S. Gurcharan Singh, Nirmal Singh, Amit Sharma, S. Harsimran Singh, Vikesh Sharma,  Gautam Sharma, Narinder Sharma, S. Gurbachan Singh, Chamel Singh and Gaurav Sharma.
The gold medal winners in various events included Richa Mandla, Sanjeev Sharma, Narmita, Rajan, Palavi Choudhary, Akshay Sahrma, Priya Sharma, GCW Parade, SPMR College of Commerce, GGM Science College and Narmita Katoch.
Rajan Sharma of GGM Science College was adjudged as the best athlete (men), while Narmita Katoch was declared best athlete (women).
The overall championship in men’s category went to SPMR College of Commerce, while GCW Parade bagged overall championship in the women’s category.
