2-day National Science Fair concludes

JAMMU, Feb 26: Two days National Science Fair organized by Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with National Council for Science & Technology Communication, DST, New Delhi and J&K State Science, Technology and Innovation Council concludes, here today.
Kavinder Gupta, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr. Ajay Parkash Gupta, QAQR Scientist IIIM, Jammu was the Resource Person.
Earlier, Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College welcomed the guests and thanked the participants with inundated response. She also told that the innovations and ideas projected by students in science models, posters making and power-point presentations will boost country with the explored talents of budding scientists.
The Resource person made a extension lectures on “Innovations in Daily Life” which stimulated the learners to develop a scientific temper to live a meaningful existence.
Dr. Satinder Kaur, Head Department of Zoology mentored the school teachers to hone the skills and become research oriented to teach a practical science to the students.
Students also made power-point presentation on “Life of C V Raman” a great scientist par excellence whose contribution in science fetched Nobel Prize. His birthday is celebrated as National Science Day to inculcate scientific acumen amongst young scholars.
Prof. Amipal Kaur, organizing secretary of the event read the report and the proceeding taken place in different technical sessions. A skit was also presented on incredible India. The reviews of the participants were collected in the form of feedback.
Mr Gupta in his valedictory address appreciated aura created by the science fair where our young stalwart of science will be contributors in the Make in India – a compaign started by Prime Minister of India. While appreciating the science fair he dwelled upon the idea that this scientific temper percolated will definitely make India to ride the scientific growth.
The adjudicators were Dr. Ajay Parkash Gupta, Scientist IIIM, Jammu, Prof. Satyapaul Sharma, Department of Chemistry and Prof PVKS Baba, Department of Physics, University of Jammu in which KV No.1, Gandhi Nagar got the 1st and 2nd prize, while the 3rd prize was claimed by Shiksha Niketan, Jeevan Nagar. The winners of the poster making competition were Pallavi, Mehak Sharma and Prabjot Bali respectively, while Diksha, Afreen and Faisal Arif won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in Symposia respectively. Prof. Neelam Thapa presented formal vote of thanks.
