1st J&K UT Karate Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Dec 21: 1st J&K UT Sub Junior, Cadet, Junior & Senior Karate Championship-2019 began with great enthusiasm at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here today.
The Championship is being organized by Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu & Kashmir (AKAJK).
Over 600 Karatekas from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir are taking part in the event and the participating districts include Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua, Reasi, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Bandipora, Kupwara, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Doda, Shopian and Samba.
Shihan Ambedkar Gupta, General Secretary Karate Association of India was the chief guest on the opening ceremony of the championship, who appreciated the work being done by the Association in the field of Karate and the outstanding performance of the players in the current year.
Shihan Amit Sangra conducted the briefing and rule regulation seminar for coaches and referees along with Sensei Umesh Rekhi, Chairman Referee Commission (AKAJK). Sanjay Kumar Tuttoo, President Referee Commission (AKAJK) was also present on the occasion.
A good number of Karatekas bagged gold, silver and bronze medals on day-1 of this Championship.
