JAMMU, Aug 31: To give fillip to chess in Jammu and Kashmir and provide platform to the talented players to showcase their skills at the higher levels, All J&K Chess Association will be organizing a first ever Jammu Chess League in Jammu from December 7 to December 10, 2017.
This was informed by Atul Kumar Gupta, President of All J&K Chess Association while interacting with media persons at Press Club, here today.
He said, forty players will be selected for this League, the venue for which will be Press Club Jammu.

Atul further said, only J&K State players can participate in this league which will be played in round robin system as per International rules of chess, adding for details players can check website www.alljkchess.com.
“Last date of sending consent is October 13, 2017. Screening of the players and final selection will be done on October 14 at 6 pm at Nek Hotel, below Gummat Jammu. Cash prizes, special prizes and trophies will be distributed among winners,” Atul added.
The organizers said that the entry will be free and all the players will be given uniform with logo of each team, adding the Chief Organizer of this League will be Kuljeet Singh Jamwal, whileAnil Kotwal and Bindu Pathania will be Arbiters for the League.
Eight teams consisting of five players each will play each other for top honours.
The participating eight teams and their owners include Chess Champs (Owner-Taranvir Singh), Chess Tigers (Owner-Kuljeet Singh Jamwal), Jammu Chess Fighters (Owner-Baldev Raj), Kings and Queens (Owner-Dr AS Bhatia), Queen and Knight (Owner-Raj Kumar), B&W (Owner-Rakesh Gupta), White Knights (Owner-Atul Kumar Gupta) and Chess Aces (Owner-Sanjeev Gupta).
