3000 students participate in MIET Student Festival ‘Sammilan 2K17’

JAMMU, Mar 25: A mega Techno-Cultural Festival ‘Sammilan 2K17’ got underway at Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), here today.
Keeping the spirit of Student Festival alive, the Student Committee invited two alumni from the first batch of MIET namely Shaman Verma, Territory Manager North, Mahindra Value First and Rahul Dhar, Senior Manager State Bank of India as the chief guests on the occasion.
Prof Ankur Gupta, Director MIET presented welcome address and described Sammilan as confluence of youth power.
Major General (retired), Prof SK Sharma apprised the audience on the scale and diversity of the festival with 14 technical events, 12 literary events, 5 business events, 6 cultural events and 4 sports events.
A total of 3000 students attended the cultural events on campus.
The highlight of the Sammilan was the performance of Rock Band ‘Antariksh, voted best band by MTV India’  on day-1 and EDM music performance on day-2 by DJ NYK, voted leading DJ of India.
During the inaugural function, students of MIET Music and Dance Club presented enthralling performances to set the tone for the day. Students then proceeded to participate in competitive events and a Fashion Show ‘Rage’ which was sponsored by 15 leading designers/ fashion houses/beauty bands.
The Festival was sponsored by ICCI Bnak, PNB, Airtel, Gate Games, Talla Jewellers, CADD Center and some media agencies.
