JAMMU, Feb 19: Zoya Zavi, a student of Class 10th of Kendriya Vidyalaya GC CRPF Bantalab has been selected for International Science Congress. She had remained number one in 29th National Children Science Congress-2021- a nationwide Science Communication Programme conducted by Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, hosted by GUJCOST from February 15 to 18.
Zoya Zavi daughter of Mohd Aslam and Begum Nasreen Parvin residing at CRPF Campus GC CRPF Bantalab stood 1st among 33 students whose projects were shortlisted out of 618 projects from 28 States/UTs and KVS / NVS as well Gulf Countries.
At Regional level out of 25 selected projects from 39 Kendriya Vidyalayas of Jammu region, only nine were selected and displayed at Regional level and she was again among the lucky junior scientists.
At KVS National level, out of 450 projects, only 42 were selected for their further participation at National level programme and she was one among the three meritorious candidates who have been selected from 39 Vidyalayas of Jammu region.
She is working on the project “Wonder of Termites” and her research is going on “how the properties of termites can be used to destroy unwanted grass and weeds on no agricultural land without using any chemicals.”
The Vidyalaya expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr D Manjunath (Deputy Commissioner Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Jammu) and Bhanu Pratap Singh, Deputy Inspector General, GC-CRPF Bantalab for restoring the confidence and boosting the morale of Zoya Zavi.
