JAMMU, Oct 10: MLA Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi, reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the sports culture in Jammu by upgrading local infrastructure and promoting youth participation in athletics.
While inaugurating the renovation and development work at Parade Ground, Sethi said the move marked a significant step toward restoring the iconic ground to its former glory. The project includes a new practice pitch, installation of water coolers and overall beautification of the area.
He thanked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for its swift cooperation in initiating the work and emphasized that sports play a key role in building character, discipline and leadership among youth.
Highlighting the Central Government’s efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sethi said multiple initiatives are being taken to uplift sports across the Union Territory.
“The Parade Ground holds historical and social importance. We are committed to reviving it as a hub of sporting activities,” he said, assuring full support from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
He also appreciated the efforts of local workers including Anil Masoom, Vikram, Vikrant, Adarsh Jatyal, Gaurav and Chopra. Meanwhile, Vijay Sabarwal, President of Parade Sports Association, thanked Sethi and JMC, noting that a court order now ensures the ground remains reserved exclusively for sports activities.
