SRINAGAR, Mar 15: The Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Jammu and Kashmir announces the grant of Annual Sports Scholarships to students and players who showcased remarkable talent and dedication at the 66th and 67th National School Games (NSG) during the financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24, respectively.
The decision stemming from the scholarship committee’s meeting on January 30, 2024, reflected the Government’s unwavering support for youth development and sports excellence in the region.
In 66th National Sports Games (2022-23) a total amount of Rs 5, 47,500 has been sanctioned to benefit 294 students, players, including medallists, who represented the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at the national level. The scholarships were disbursed across various districts, with Jammu Division receiving Rs 3, 94,000 and Kashmir Division receiving Rs 1, 53,500.
For 67th National Sports Games (2023-24) a total amount of Rs 28,23,500 (Twenty-Eight Lakh Twenty-Three Thousand Five Hundred) has been sanctioned, benefiting 1307 students/players, including medallists, who represented the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at the national level. The scholarships were disbursed across various districts, with Jammu Division receiving Rs. 15, 88,250 and Kashmir Division receiving Rs 12, 35,750.
The combined total scholarships disbursed for the 66th and 67th NSG amount to Rs 33, 71,500 (Rupees Thirty-Three Lakh Seventy One Thousand Five Hundred).
The statement said recognizing the pivotal role of District Youth Services & Sports Officers; the Directorate authorizes the release of funds through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode, ensuring seamless and transparent disbursement to the deserving beneficiaries.
