Youth protest against delay in completion of stadium

UDHAMPUR, May 23: Agitated over extremely poor condition of under-construction Subash Sport Stadium in Udhampur, local youths and sportsmen today held a protest demonstration against the J&K Sports Council and PWD.
Led by senior Congress leaders Sumeet Magotra, the protesting youth raised slogans against the Sports Council and PWD authorities for their alleged failure to maintain the infrastructure in stadium.
They highlighted the problems being faced by the sportspersons and also drew attention towards worst condition of the link road to stadium, which is still under construction for the last many years.
Magotra demanded Vigilance probe into the delay in completion of under construction complex of sports stadium. He lamented that there were no drinking water, washroom, change room facilities in the Subash Sports Stadium.
He also announced to submit a memorandum to newly appointed Sports Minister of India Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also representing Udhampur as Member Parliament, seeking early completion of the stadium and upgrading it at the level of international stadium.
Others who addressed the protest demonstration, included Jeevan Sharma, Minu Sharma, Deepu,  Balwant Singh, Shivam Sharma, Saparsh Sharma, Gulshan Singh, Roshan Sharma, Rabit Pada and Gopal Sharma.
