Youth gifted with special traits to achieve excellence in rifle, pistol shooting: Charak

JAMMU, May 13: To encourage the art and science of marksmanship throughout the Jammu and Kashmir particularly among civilian population as a healthy sport, General Zorawar Singh Rifle Club, affiliated to Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association organised its first meeting in Dogra Educational Complex, Bari Brahmana.
Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and President of the Club said that youth of the State is gifted with special traits to achieve excellence in the upcoming sports of rifle and pistol shooting in our country.
He cited the example of Chain Singh, son of the soil from Doda, who has made country proud in Asian Games 2014, and he is a big hope for Rio Olympics.
He further informed that a state-of-the-art 10M Shooting Range for pistol and rifle shooting is coming up in the Dogra Educational Complex in collaboration with Sports Craft Inc. The club will provide national coaches to train the youth from schools and colleges, in addition to the other civilian populations who can seek membership of the club, he stated.
Brigadier MS Jamwal (Retd), Vice President informed that various plans and proposals to create this club as a centre of excellence at grass root level to encourage sports of shooting in J&K. Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association has already scheduled 7th J&K State Shooting Championship to be held at General Zorawar Singh Rifle Club in the month of August.
