Young Star Simbal lifts title trophy

JAMMU, Jan 13: Outplaying Samar Cricket Club Jammu by a narrow margin of 7 runs in the summit clash, Young Star Cricket Club Simbal Camp lifted the title trophy of the Mahant Bachhiter Singh Memorial (MBSM) T20 Cricket Tournament, which concluded at High School ground Simbal Camp, here today.
This month long tournament was organized by Simbal Welfare Association with an objective to promote sports in the area.
Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Amrik Singh Reen was the guest of honour. Sarpanchs and Panchs of Simbal and adjoining areas were also present on the occasion. The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and the runners-up teams on the occasion, besides special prizes among the players, who were adjudged man of the match and man of the series.
Earlier, batting first, Young Star Cricket Club bundled out for a meagre total of 92 runs in 19.1 overs. Pawandeep Singh and Harvinder Singh contributed 17 and 14 runs to the total respectively. For Samar Cricket Club, Kamal Kishore scalped 3 wickets, while Vishwajeet Singh, Sourav and Sidharth Magotra bagged 2 wickets each and Naushad claimed one.
In reply, Samar Club, collapsed at 85 runs in 18.2 overs to lose the match by a narrow margin of 7 runs. Sidharth and Ramandeep Singh scored 19 and 15 runs respectively, while Chetan and Jagandeep chipped in with 12 runs each. For Young Star Club, Parveen Kakkar bagged 3 wickets, while Pawandeep Singh and Gagandeep Singh took 2 wickets each. Sonu and Sandeep claimed one wicket each. Pawandeep Singh of Young Star Cricket Club was adjudged man of the match, while Gagandeep Singh of the same Club was declared man of the series for scalping 14 wickets in the tournament. Pawandeep received a cash prize of Rs 1000 alongwith a memento, while Gagandeep got a cash prize of Rs 2500, a Videocon mobile phone and a memento from the chief guest.
The winners were presented a cash prize of Rs 7000 and a trophy by the chief guest, while the runner-up team received a cash prize of Rs 3500 and a trophy from the organizers.
