SIMBAL, Dec 25: YCC Simbal defeated RCC Nanak Nagar by 30 runs in the quarterfinals to enter the semifinals of the Mahant Bachhitter Singh Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Simbal Welfare Association at Government High School, here today.
Earlier, batting first, YCC scored a modest total of 124 runs in 18.2 overs. Gurpreet, Rohit and Sandeep scored 28, 25 and 22 runs to the total respectively. For RCC, Sarabjeet Singh was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 5 important wickets, while Kanwalpreet Singh and Prakash Singh bagged 2 and one wicket respectively.
In reply, RCC collapsed at 94 runs in 19 overs. Rabjot (22), Kanwalpreet (21) and Ripel (15) were the main contributors. For YCC, Manju took 3 wickets, while Monty and Shannu bagged 2 wickets each and Gurpreet claimed one. Gurpreet was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance.
The match was officiated by Kulbir Singh Kali and Bablu as umpires, while Swarn Singh was the scorer.
Brijesh Bhau (International Karate Player) was the chief guest in today’s proceedings.
