JAMMU, Mar 6: Two days long J&K UT Junior/Sub-Junior (Cadet) Wrestling Championship, organised by wrestling Association of J&K, declared open by Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma, president J&K Olympic Association at University of Jammu, here today.
President J&K Olympic Association was welcomed and received by Ajay Vaid honorary general secretary Wrestling Association of J&K, Dheeraj Sharma and Raju Sharma.
Rajan Sharma, general secretary J&K Boxing Association, Kuldeep Handoo, Chief coach Wushu India, (Dronacharya Awardees), Sharat Chander Singh, general secretary J&K Athletics Association, Kuljeet Singh Jamwal, president J&K Basketball Association, Sahil Sharma and many others were present during the event.
The bouts were officiated by the technical penal including Om Parkash Sharma senior Wrestling coach J&K Police, Krishan Singh Assistant coach J&K Police Wrestling team, Beniya Amin, Roshan Sharma and Ajay Bharti.
A total of 160 participants are contesting for the top honours in 10 different weight categories in men & women groups. Earlier, during the day-long competition preliminary rounds of the various bouts were organised wherein some wrestlers have reached in semi-finals and final stages.
Meanwhile, in sub-junior 45 kg weight category, Mohd Khalil and Rahul Kumar qualified for the final, whereas in 48 kg weight category sub-junior, Sahil Kumar and Ganesh Singh also qualified for finals.
In weight category of 51 kg sub-junior, Amandeep and Surya Uday Singh also reached in finals round, while in 55 kg sub-junior, Bagh Hussain and Rahul Singh qualified for finals.
Sunil Singh and Shabir Ahmed, whereas Gafoor Ahmed and Udhay Singh qualified for the finals in 65kg and 71 kg weight categories respectively.
