JAMMU, Sept 15: J&K Wrestling Association organised one day State Wrestling Championship-2019, under thje auspices of Wrestling Federation of India, J&K State Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association at Wrestling Hall, University of Jammu, here today.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the opening ceremony.
Later, the closing ceremony and prize distribution function was presided over by SSP Dushyant Sharma, former International Wrestler and President J&K Olympic Association, who in his address lauded the efforts of the organisers for holding the event in a befitting manner and also congratulated the wrestlers for good show.
He also distributed medals among the winners and certificates among the participants.
85 Under-23 wrestlers including boys and girls took part in the event.
The winners of this Championship will take part in the forthcoming 2nd Under-23 Free Style, Greco Roman Style and Woman National Wrestling Championship-2019 to be held at Shirdi, Rahata, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra from September 26 to September 29, 2019.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were officer bearers of the Association including Ajay Vaid, General Secretary; Raju Sharma, Treasurer, Dheeraj Sharma, Jai Bharat, Vijay Pahalwan, Om Parkash, Swaran Lal, Raj Kumar and Ravinder Kumar.
