KATRA, Sept 8: Wrestler Prince of Amritsar in Punjab clinched 70th Annual Barn Kesari Dangal Title 2015, defeating International wrestler Parveen of Haryana for the main first malli bout. Dangal was organized at village Barn in Tehsil Bhawal of District Jammu.
Dangal was organized in memory of Raja Mandalik by Barn Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma and President of Barn Dangal Committee Balwant Singh.
78 bouts were played and around 153 wrestlers from within and outside the State including Punjab, Harayana, Delhi and UP participated.
Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council Jammu, Shiv Kumar Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runners-up wrestlers. Retd. S.P Prithvi Raj Sharma presided over the function, while wrestling promoter Ram Paul Sharma and Sarpanch Babishan Singh were the guests of honour.
Winner of 1st malli bout was awarded cash prize of Rs. 31,000 by Mr Sharma, Balwant Singh and Prithvi Raj Sharma, while runners-up Parveen was awarded a prize of Rs. 20,000 by Sarpanch Babishan, Ram Paul Sharma and Kuldeep Singh.
The second main bout was fought between Kaka of Amritsar and Yadha of Attari. This bout was won by Kaka, he was awarded with Rs. 15,000, while runner-up Yodha got Rs. 10,000. Members and technical officials who helped for the smooth conduct of this event included Balwant Singh (President), Kuldeep Singh, Pritam Singh, Rajan Singh (Happy), Babu Ram, Kaonsal Singh, Deep Singh, Tara Singh, Pappu Gujjar, Kala Khan, Prabh Dayal, Ram Gujjar, Mohd. Fareed, Bittu Raina, Raj Hussian and Murli Dhar (Munna).
