Wrestler Kalu lifts Maitra Maha Dangal title

RAMBAN, Apr 24: Wrestler Kalu from Jammu crushed Monu from Jammu and lifted the Annual Maitra Maha Dangal title, being organized by Maitra Dangal Committee at Ram Leela ground, Maitra, here today.
The winner of the match was awarded Rs 6000 and patta, while as runner-up was given Rs 4000 cash prize by the MLA, Ramban, Ashok Kumar, who was the chief guest on the occasion. Commandant IRP 9th Battalion, SK Bali, officers of Police Department, Ex- Chairman OP Sadotra and President Ramban Dangal Committee, Yog Raj Gupta were also present.
While speaking, Ashok Kumar said that such events help to promote communal harmony, brotherhood and national integration among the masses.
Ashok further said that rural sports boost the morale of wrestlers besides providing a source of entertainment to common people.
He said events also keep the wrestlers physically fit and mentally sound.
As many as 36 bouts were held during the wrestling match with the participation of about 70 wrestlers from within and outside the State.
Chairman of Dangal Committee, Gopal Krishan Raina urged for continuation of support to make the event a grand success every year here.
The matches were officiated by Mohd Radiq, Rashid, Ranjay Kumar, Naik Ram Kundal and Krishan Lal and Mustaq Mugal.
