Wrestler Benia lifts Moori Kesari Dangal title

KATRA, Apr 4: J&K Police wrestler, Benia Min of Basantgarh in Udhampur district lifted ’65th Moori Kesari Dangal title’ by defeating wrestler Narinder of BSF of Chandigarh in a tough bout at Moori village, here today.
The winner of 1st bout was awarded with cash prize Rs 41000, while runner-up was honoured with Rs 30000. In the second bout Nisar of J&K Police trounced Gama of BSF from Chandigarh and were awarded with Rs 10000 and Rs 8000 respectively, whereas in another bout, Deepak Kakran defeated Babba and were honoured with Rs 10000 and Rs 8000 respectively.
The Dangal was organized by Peer Baba Dangal Committee Moori in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of former Sarpanch Romesh Chander and Shiv Kumar Sharma, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Congress leader Sohan Lal Thakur (Sonu) was the chief guest, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function and Ambrish Magotra (Ashu) former President Municipal Committee Katra, Naresh Kumar and Ashutosh Bhawal, Sub Inspector were the guests of honour.
Third bout went to Lallu by beating Kaka, while 4th bout was won by Surjeet Singh defeating Gurmail and another 4th bout was secured by Muneer by defeating Dinesh.
Gopal Sharma beat Varinder, Shakir Noor defeated Daler Khan, Mehar Singh defeated Ajay Sharma, Ranjeet beat Chain Singh and Sanjay defeated Rakesh.
Ramesh Chander (ex. Sarpanch), Om Parkash, Tarsem Kumar, Mohan Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Maheshwer Singh, Jakin Ali and others were members of the technical committee.
