Wrestler Babba lifts 29th Dera Kesari Dangal title

KATRA, Apr 14: Wrestler Babba of Kot Bhalwal lifted 29th Annual Dera Kesari Dangal 2022 title by defeating wrestler Ajay Sharma of Udhampur in the first bout at holy shrine Dera Baba Banda Bahadur, here today.
The Dangal was organized by Dera Baba Bandha Bahadur Prabandhak Committee, Baba Banda Bahadur Sikh Samardi in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma and Baba Jatinder Paul Singh Sodhi (Gaddinasheen ) which was organized in the memory of the great Saint, warrior and martyr Baba Banda Singh Bahadur on the eve of Baisakhi festival.
SSP Reasi Amit Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runner-ups, while Assistant Commissioner Revenue Sanjay Badyal was the guest of honour and Tehsildar Munshi Ram and DSP Reasi were the special guests on the occasion.
First bout was won by Babba and awarded with a cash prize of Rs 6000 along with traditional “Gurj (Gadda) and Patta” while the runner-up wrestler was given Rs. 5,000. The 2nd bout winner was Surjeet Singh who defeated Salman and 2nd bout was clinched by Bablu by defeating Sanjay.
Proceeding of the Dangal was conducted by Ved Parkash Makker and Sunny Sharma, while the welcome address was presented by Baba Jatinder Paul Singh Sodhi. The vote of thanks was presented by Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Other results: Chain Singh beat Banti, Bhushan defeated Karam Bir, Karnail Singh defeated Nisan, Sunil beat Vipan, Ganesh defeated Shokat, Madan Lal defeated Arjun, Rohit beat Rashpaul, Ravi defeated Kaka and Sher Ali beat Anwar.
Jatinder Paul Singh Sodhi (Gaddhinasheen), Malik Ram Lubhya, Paruthi (Chairman) Ved Parkash Makker (General Secretary), Sunny Sharma, Sanjay Kumar, Lucky Chib, Tulinder Kumar, Raj Hussain and Murli Dhar were present during the event.
