Women cricket on upswing as J&K wins 4 matches in a trot

JAMMU, Feb 4: With the young brigade of Payal Choudhary, Neeru Manhas, Surekha and Chetna Dogra accompanying the team as supporting staff in different capacities, the Jammu and Kashmir eves are displaying extraordinary cricketing skills in the Women’s Under-23 One Dayers, being organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) across the country.
So, there is no harm in saying that women cricket of Jammu and Kashmir is on upswing.
In the five matches played so far, after losing the first match to Puducherry, came back strongly and scripted 4 wins in a trot against Meghalaya, Mizoram, Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh.
Though, all the rival teams were not formidable ones, but winning like this was not the custom in Jammu and Kashmir. Now, the Jammu and Kashmir eves have developed self esteem and are on the path of winning way.
The players who have blossomed IN this tournament so far include Ananya Sharma, Nadia Chowdhary, Bismah Hassan and Tanisha Sharma.
While Ananya has emerged highest wicket-taker so far from J&K. Which included a 5-wicket haul against Mizoram, Bismah Hassan apart from scoring valuable runs, also took 5-wickets against Arunachal Pradesh. The duo of Tanisha Sharma and Nadia Chowdhary scored magnificent half-centuries in the tournament.
The team is playing as a cohesive unit under the supervision of young supporting staff including Payal Choudhary (Manager), Neeru Manhas (Coach), Surekha (Trainer) and Chetna Dogra (Physio).
The team was congratulated by Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, CEO JKCA for this achievement.
