LEH, Jan 20: One month-long Winter Ice-Hockey Camp was organised by the Youth, Sports and Culture Club of Wakha Mulbekh at newly built Ice-Hockey Rink, here today.
It was a camp initiated to train the younger children to learn the skills and showcase their talent.
Two batches of trainees were imparted training by the senior club members in a period of 15 days each.
The main objective of imparting such training was to enable the budding players compete with others at various platforms provided by the two District Councils. Some of the trainees represented at the recently concluded National Ice-Hockey Championship held in Leh.
Executive Councillor Mohd Ali Chandan, BDC chairperson, Sarpanch Wakha and Shargol, SHO Wakha and ex-Councillor were present on the occasion.
The chief guest distributed certificate of participation among all the trainees and Khataks among contributors in organising the event successfully.
The Club also put forth a memorandum before the chief guest and BDC regarding the provision of Ice-Hockey equipments and necessary requirements of the game which otherwise serve as a stumbling-block for enhancing the standard of this game.
