POONCH, Jan 20: Organised by Shaheed Manjit Singh Volleyball Club, the Poonch Volleyball League got underway at Government Degree College (GD) grounds, here today.
In the opening matches, Poonch Gladiator and Poonch Royal emerged winners beating their opponents.
While Gladiators had a close 3-2 contest against Poonch Thunders, Poonch Royal had straight sets win.
The Results: Poonch Gladiator bt Poonch Thunder 3-2 (12:15, 15:13,11:15, 15:13,
15:10); Poonch Royal bt Poonch Panthers 3-0 (15:12, 15:13, 15:11).
Earlier, the competition was declared open by Assistant Commandant of CRPF, Monika Salve, who interacted with the participating teams and the organisers.
She appreciated the Shaheed Manjit Singh Club for promoting the game of Volleyball in district Poonch and complimented the chairman of the Club, Mohd Tariq.
Also present were Mohd Qasim (ZPEO), Pradeep Khanna (social activist), Narinder Singh and Ramiz Tariq.
