JAMMU, June 1: The White Knight Corps celebrated its 42nd Raising Day.
On the occasion, Lieutenant General KH Singh, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps, along with other officials of the Corps paid tributes to the martyrs.
Mr Singh while speaking complimented all ranks on their outstanding contribution in combating militancy and assisting the administration in regaining normalcy.
He exhorted all troops to persist with same zeal and enthusiasm towards their profession to achieve new milestones.
GOC was confident that in future too the White Knight fraternity would continue to scale heights of success as never before in the service of the nation.
White Knight Corps was raised on June 1, 1972 on the banks of Tawi River at Nagrota. In the last four decades since its raising, the White Knight Corps has progressed in leaps and bound to become the largest and the most active operationally vibrant force of the Indian Army. Its area of responsibility traverses a spectrum of diversity which ranges from snow capped mountains to hills, riverine terrain and to developed terrain.
The Corps is operationally committed in pursuit of guarding the International Border, maintaining the sanctity of the Line of Control and combating militancy, all of which have resulted in restoring normalcy in the region. It is also actively involved in various developmental programmes aimed at improving the habitat of the populace. The Corps has to its credit, large number of gallantry awards after 1971 war.
