Weeklong Girls Badminton C’ship concludes

BHADERWAH, Feb 22: Weeklong Girls Badminton Championship, organised by Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR), concluded at Indoor Badminton Court, Sarna Battalion Headquarter, here today.
The Badminton Championship in which 50 girls from different Schools, Colleges and Bhaderwah campus participated with an aim was to promote sports and to groom the hidden talent of hills especially girls who otherwise get fewer chances to show their talent.
The Badminton Championship garnered the attention of the girl students and their parents as they converged in large numbers throughout the tournament to support and encourage their players.
In the finals that was played at the jam packed Indoor Stadium Sarna, the pair of Shilpa and Navika defeated Minal and Isha in straight sets and won the championship with 21-16 and 21-15.
Trophies and medals were awarded to the winners and runner ups, while certificates, track suits and sport shoes were distributed among all the participants.
Kajal Devi of Bhaderwah campus was adjudged as the best player of the tournament. Army appreciated the players, who showed keen interest and came in such a large number to participate in the tournament.
Participants, their parents and teachers expressed their gratitude to the Army for organizing the event and lauded District Sports Authority, Badminton Clubs, Principals of Schools and College for organising this event.
