JAMMU, Jan 18: Puneet Wattal, Vishwajeet Singh and skipper Kuldip Kumar displayed superb cricketing skills as RCC Srinagar and All Greens Cricket Club registered resounding victories in the 4th Eid-Diwali-Christmas T20 Cricket Cup, being played at Parade Ground , here.
The tournament in which 24 teams are participating is being organized jointly by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, Simula Sports Club, Atman Sports Club and Christian Sports Organization.
The organizing committee includes Hilal Rather, Sanjay Mahajan, Rajesh Gill, David Mattoo, Asif Gill, Rajesh Dhar, RP Singh, Sunil Sambyal and Sunny Gill. The slogan of the tournament is “Khelo Khushi Sey- Par Nasha Mat karo”.
Earlier, Ashok Sharma, SSP PCR Jammu was the chief guest in today’s matches who was introduced with the players of the participating teams.
While speaking on the occasion he lauded the efforts of the organizers headed by organizing secretary, Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer for conducting this cricket tournament for the youths and student of the state with an objective to help them shun drugs to live happily.
In the first match, All Greens Club defeated Tawi Cricket Club by 5 wickets .
Batting first, Tawi Cricket Club scored 86 runs in stipulated 16 overs, with Sahib (24) and Munish (19) being the main scorers. Asif and Sunny took 3 wickets each for All Greens XI, while Shokat and Naveed shared one wicket.
All Greens Club, in reply achieved the target in 13.1 overs by losing 5 wickets and won the match by 5 wickets. Bafar was the top scorer with 38 runs, while Naveed contributed 21 runs. Bikkar took 3 wickets each for Tawi Club, while Nitin and Sahib claimed one wicket apiece. Bafar was adjudged as man of the match.
In the second match, RCC Srinagar scripted an easy win over Secretariat Blue.
Batting first, RCC Club scored 173 runs for 9 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Skipper Kuldip Kumar top scored with 49 runs, while Sandeep Singh contributed valuable 42 runs and Puneet Wattal scored brilliant 31 runs. Mehraj and Imitiaz took 4 wickets each for Secretariat Blues, while Asif took 1 wicket.
Secretariat Blue Club managed to score 142 runs in the allotted overs, thus lost the match by 31 runs. Mehraj, Mustaq and Bilal were the main contributors with 37, 34 and 23 respectively.
Puneet wattal was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 wickets, while Vishwajeet Singh and Kuldip Kumar claimed 2 wickets each. Puneet was adjudged as man of the match .
The matches were officiated by Sandeep Manchanda, Vinod Kandyara, Madan Lal and Danny. In tomorrow’s fixture, Christian Sports Club will task on JK Assembly XI at 8.30 am, Evershine Cricket Club will face Secretariat Green at 11.30 am and Simula Sports Club will meet Youth Sports Club at 2.15 pm.
