JAMMU, Apr 23: In a spellbinding display under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, a high-octane night football match at Mini Stadium, Parade Ground, mesmerized spectators, rather cast spells on them and ignited a powerful call to “Get Addicted to Football, Not Drugs.”
Warrior Football Club dominated Spartans Club with a commanding 2-0 victory, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats in this pulsating encounter that ran from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
Organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), J&K, as part of the ambitious 100-Day Campaign Against Drug Abuse-launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at MA Stadium-the event masterfully blended thrilling sports action with a vital anti-drug message.
Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, served as guest of honour, tossing the coin to kick off the match amid roaring cheers from enthusiastic youth and fans.
Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, graced the occasion as chief guest. He led the pledge against drug abuse and delivered a stirring address, declaring the eradication of drugs as the UT Government’s cherished dream. “We stand united in our resolve to build a healthier, drug-free Jammu and Kashmir,” he affirmed.
Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, expressed profound gratitude to dignitaries, players, and attendees. She presented trophies, medals, and mementos, underscoring DYSS’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and substance abuse prevention across the Union Territory.
