JAMMU, July 25: The Western Air Command (WAC) Inter Air Force School Basketball Championship concluded at the Air Force School, Jammu, here today.
Six Air Force Schools of the Western Air Command participated in the championship, which included AFS Pathankot, AFS Ambala, AFS Hindon, AFS Sarsawa, AFS Chandigarh and the host team of AFS Jammu.
The final match of the championship was played between AFS Hindon and AFS Jammu, wherein AFS Hindon won in a thrilling contest, while AFS Jammu remained the runners-up and AFS Ambala the got third place.
Air Commodore P E Patange YSM VM, Air Officer Commanding Air Force Station Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion.
Among other dignitaries present were Gp Capt S Pati, C Adm O, Gp Capt S Sridhar COO Air Force Station Jammu and Flt Lt Karishma Sethi the Officer-in-Charge Air Force School, Jammu.
In his address, Air Commodore Patange said that sports provides an excellent pathway for young people to acquire the team spirit, competitiveness and greater self confidence, thereby maximizing their potential.
Vikesh Sandhal, Principal, Air force School Jammu also spoke on the occasion. Prizes were distributed among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
