JAMMU, Sept 9: Vishal Singh of Government Degree College (GDC) Billawar and Sangita Devi claimed gold medals in the Inter-Collegiate Cross (M&W) Cross Country Championship, organised by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu at Varsity ground, here.
23 Colleges in men’s section and 13 Colleges in women’s section affiliated to the University of Jammu participated in the event.
In men’s section, Vishal Singh of GDC Billawar clinched gold medal by completing the race in 34.22 minutes whereas Naresh Kumar of GDC Bhaderwah and Malkeet Singh of GDC Sunderbani bagged silver and bronze medals by completing the race in 34.54 minutes and 36.45 minutes respectively.
In the women’s section, Sangita Devi clinched gold medal by completing the race in 30.11, Anamika Devi of GDC Khour won silver taking 30.14 minutes and Radhika Sharma of GDC Khour clinched bronze medal by completing the race in 31.51 minutes respectively.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu distributed the prizes among the meritorious athletes on the concluding ceremony.
Prominent among other dignitaries present on the occasion were Zakir Ali, Physical Director GDC Bhaderwah; Sakshi Sharma, Lecturer GDC Billawar; Prof Komal Bangotra, Assistant Prof GDC Basoli; Prof Saleem Ahmed GDC Reasi; Gautam Sharma, Physical Director GDC Khour; Prof Rakesh Kumar, GDC Hiranagar; Dr Manjula Gupta, Assistant Prof GDC Samba; Suman Lata, Physical Director GCW Parade; Vikesh Kumar, Physical Director GDC Jindrah; Narendar Pal Sharma, Physical Director GDC Kalakote; Prof Neha Gupta of GDC Kathua; Dr Manmeet Kour, Assiatant Prof GDC Akhnoor; Neenu Narania, Physical Director GDC Bishnah and Poonam Rainu, Assistant Director GDC Jindrah.
