JAMMU, Mar 31: Vishal Junior XI routed Friends Junior XI by 15 runs and claimed the title of the Under 10 years cricket match organized during Easter Sports Festival for young children by Christian Sports Organization, which concluded today at Ladies Vocational Centre, Christian Colony, here today.
Friends Junior Club batting first scored 105 runs for three wickets in allotted 10 overs match.
Rohit was the main scorer, who chipped in 50 runs with the help of 4 sixes and 5 boundaries, whereas Anslum and Kallis made 19 and 12 runs respectively.
From Vishal Club side, Ivan and Eric claimed 2 and 1 wickets respectively.
In reply, Vishal Junior Club failed to chase the target and bundled out for 90 runs with the loss of 5 wickets in allotted overs.
Kaka made highest 29 runs, while Ritesh made 20 runs for his team.
From Friends Club side, Rohit was the main bowler who took 3 important wickets, while Kallis, Ansulam and Melwin took 1 wicket each.
Rohit was declared man of the match for his all round performance.
In Under 6 Spoon Race (Girls) category, Manat secured first position and Petal stood second, whereas, in under 12, Neha and Lencee secured first and second position.
In under 6 Boys race, Sujal and Rahul bagged first and second positions respectively, whereas, in under 12 category, Aryan and Rayhan emerged winners.
On the valedictory function, Head Priest of the Gandhi Nagar Catholic Church, Fr Kuriakose, was the chief guest, who awarded the winners.
While speaking, he said “I wish that every youth of the community should be drug free and must involve in sports activities because sports sharps mental ability, self discipline and team spirit among the players, so every young children must take part in any sports activity”.
Lal Gill was the guest of honour, while Hamid Mattoo, Navin Athwal, Moon Stephan, Prince, Mithu, Sandeep Manchanda and parents of the participating children were also present.
Earlier, the festival was inaugurated by Rajesh Gill, President of the Christian Sports Organization and Lazar Kandyara, DySP NHRC, Jammu.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by the Sunny Gill, while the welcome address was presented by Asif Gill, joint secretary of the Christian Sports Organization and vote of thanks was presented by the David Mattoo.
