JAMMU, July 20: Vice Chancellor University of Jammu (JU), Prof Manoj Dhar today declared open the Senior National Korfball Championship, organised by J&K Korfball Association under the auspices of Indian Korfball Committee on the JU campus, here.
A brief report of the event was presented by advisor and founder member of the host Association, Tarlok Singh.
In total, 14 teams from as many States are taking part in this event.
The participants include Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Kerala, Chandigarh and hosts J&K.
Prominent among those present were Santosh Kumar (acting chairperson, Indian Korfball Committee), Swaran Singh Sempla (president, Punjab Korfball Association), Satender Kumar (member, Indian Korfball Committee), KPS Chauhan (general secretary, Chhattisgarh Korfball Association), TV Krishna Rao (General Secretary, Andhra Pradesh Korfball Association), Mukesh Khandelwal (general secretary, Uttar Pradesh Korfball Association), Paras Ram (Rajasthan Korfball Association), Rajeev (general secretary Kerala Korfball Association), C.L. Lakhan Pal (Himachal Pradesh), Rahul Pal (Delhi) and Gandhi Ram (Himachal Pradesh). As also B.S. Thirti (treasurer, Kho Kho Federation of India), Harjeet Singh (general secretary, J&K Kho Kho Association), Manmeet Singh (president, J& K Kho Kho Association), P P Singh (general secretary, J&K Skating Association) and Pardeep Malhotra (senior vice president, J&K Korfball Association)
The vote of thanks was presented by acting chairman of the Indian Korfball Committee, Santosh Kumar.
The Results (League): Telangana bt Kerela 10-01; Chandigarh bt Madhya Pradesh by 08-04; Delhi bt Punjab by 06-05; Chhattisgarh drew against Himachal Pradesh by 04-04.
