JAMMU, Feb 4: Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), Prof JP Sharma inaugurated first Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament at Main Campus Chatha, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sharma emphasized on the importance of sports in the overall growth and development of the youth. He said that the sports play a vital role in shaping the overall personality of person by enhancing his competitive skills, health and over all attitudes.
He further said that apart from this, sports also inculcate team spirit and leadership qualities and also act as medium of relieving stress and anxiety.
He assured that the University would make every possible effort to encourage students to participate in different sports activities, organised at local and national level. Four cricket teams of SKUAST-Jammu are participating in the T-10 tournament, during which two matches will be played each day and the tournament will last for four days.
Registrar cum Director Research, Prof Jag Paul Sharma, Dr SK Gupta, Director Education, Dr Rajesh Katoch, DSW Dr DP Abrol, Dean FOA, Dr SEH Rizvi, Dean Basic Sciences, All HODs of the divisions and other teaching and non teaching staff were present during the inaugural function.
Kewal Raina (Manager) Niraj Gupta and Divyansh Verma are among organizing the tournament under the overall supervision of DSW, SKUAST-J.
