JAMMU, Feb 5: Vice Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ), Anju Bhasin today felicitated sports achievers, who represented the institution in the inter-university and national level competitions under Khelo India.
These achievers contested in the sports disciplines of Judo, Fencing, Pencak Silat, Chess and Badminton.
The VC lauded the spectacular performance of the sports achievers who have brought laurels to the University and also assured support.
The efforts of sportspersons were also praised by Registrar of the CLUJ, Dr Jatinder Khajuria, who further motivated them to set their goals high and work persistently to accomplish them.
During the current ongoing session, students of CLUJ have participated in 21 different sports events at All India and North Zone (inter university) level.
A total of 188 students have represented the University at the national level.
The players who have qualified for Khelo India University Games and those who have won the medals at All India Inter-University competitions included Shikha Bhau (Judo), Azad Chander Sharma (Judo), Riya Bakshi (Fencing, Bronze medal), Jaspreet Kour (Fencing), Neetika Mahajana (Fencing) and Sagarika (Fencing) wualified for Khelo India University games. Komal Dhiman (Gold), Jahanvi Katal (Gold) in Beach event and Bronze in Indoor event) and Anushka Bakshi (Silver) in All India Pencak Silat Inter- University competition. Raghav Dogra (Badminton) played at Khelo India Youth Games and Abhinandan Dhar (Chess) remained in best six at North Zone Inter-University tournament.
Dr Jatinder Khajuria (Registrar), Dr Twinkle Suri (Dean Students Welfare), Dr Vinod Bakshi (Sports Coordinator and Physical Director GGM Science College), Dr Banpreet Kour, Aijaz Malik (Physical Director SPMR College of Commerce), Dr Roopali Slathia (Physical Director, GCW Gandhi Nagar), Neelam Chalotra (Assistant PTI MAM College) and Pawan Giri (Assistant PTI GGM Science College Jammu) were present on the occasion.
