JAMMU, June 5: United XI Udhampur trounced Kathua Kings by 2 wickets, while Sher-e-Samba defeated Poonch Panther by 14 runs in the ongoing White Knight Cricket League (WKCL), being organised by Army as part of “Fit India Campaign” at Country Cricket Ground, here today.
The tournament is being organised with the aim of providing a platform to local talent to showcase and harness their skills in the field of Cricket wherein Atul Sudan youth leader and social activist and Sarthak Khoda (Vice President, BJYM KDD) were the chief guests during the match.
Kathua Kings won the toss and scored 118 runs by losing 9 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Gourav and Rohit contributed 30 and 28 runs respectively, while Vikram made 17 runs. From the bowling side, Abhinav, Pankaj, Nikhil took 2 wickets each and Abhishek got 1 wicket.
In reply, Udhampur XI chased the target by losing 8 wickets and registered 2 wickets win over Kathua Kings. Abhinav Khajuria got 2 wickets and was declared as man of the match.
In another match, Sher-e-Samba defeated Poonch Panthers by 14 runs.
Batting first, Sher-e-Samba made 135 runs in the stipulated overs, wherein Lalit scored 25 runs off 18 balls, while Shiv, Sourav and Pankaj contributed 27, 19 and 18 runs respectively. From the bowling side, Kumail took 4 wickets, Laksh and Mohd Imran got 2 wickets each and Saqib claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Panthers bundled out at 121 runs in 19.5 overs in which Ebrar scored 47 runs, while Jasvinder, Rustam made 18 and 15 runs respectively. From the bowling side, Shiv Karan and Anij took 3 wickets each, while Pankaj and Sahil claimed 2 and 1 wickets respectively.
Shiv Karan was adjudged as man of the match award for his outstanding performance.
