LEH, Nov 9: United Leh lifted the title trophy of the 3rd Tip Top T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Tip Top Sports and Culture Welfare Society Youth Wing Leh.
As many as 30 cricket clubs representing different regions including teams from Kashmir and Doda district participated in the tournament held at NDS ground.
No smoking and beat the plastic were the moto of the tournament.
Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa was the chief guest on the concluding day today while LBA Vice President PT Kunzang was the guest of honour.
The final match was played between United Leh and Avenger. Winning the toss United Leh opted to bat first and scored 225 runs in their stipulated overs for the loss of 4 wickets.
Chasing the target, Avengers could score only 167 runs in their allotted 20 overs thus United Leh led by Captain Mehraj Giri won the match by 58 runs.
The winner team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 50,000, while runner up team Avengers got cash prize of Rs 30,000.
Lateaf Wangoo was adjudged as Man of the Match, Ann Abdu (Challengers) was awarded for scoring highest 380 runs in the tournament, Niyaz Ahmed (Green Warrior Club) was awarded for taking highest 16 wickets and Stanzin Mingyur (Matho Sporting Club) was awarded as emerging player.
Addressing the gathering, DC Avny Lavasa said that sports activities could be a medium for promoting positive messages among masses as different people following different faiths and beliefs plays together.
Earlier, while presenting the welcome speech Tip Top Acting President Tashi Norbu informed that the aim behind to organize this tournament was to make alcohol and smoke free region. He said that the tournament got tremendous response from different cricket sporting clubs but due to limited sport infrastructure only 30 teams could be accommodated in the tournament.
