JAMMU, Jan 1: United Blues and Khalsa Cricket Club registered convincing wins over their rivals to advance in the ongoing 3rd Christmas Twenty-20 Cricket Cup for College students and J&K cricketers at Parade Cricket ground, here today.
Anil Mangotra, CPO NHRC Jammu was the chief guest in today’s matches and was introduced with the participating teams. He was accompanied by the Rajesh Gill, organizing secretary of the tournament and Sunil Sambyal member of the organizing committee.
Earlier, in the first match United Blues defeated SCC by 61 runs.
Batting first, United Blues scored 177 runs in the stipulated 18 overs for loss of 5 wickets, with Habib (70), Rayees (24) and Majid (13) being the main scorers. Ubaid and Danish took 2 wickets each for SCC.
SCC, in reply managed to score116 runs to lose the match bt 61 runs. Tariq scored 48 runs, while Danish contributed 26 runs. Habib was declared man of the match.
In another match, Khalsa XI defeated Christian Sports XI by 6 wickets in a one-sided affair.
Batting first, Christian Sports XI made 86 runs in 18 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Anchal (29) and Ambrose (14) were the main scorers. Kala took 3 wickets, Nitin and Ricky took 2 wickets each, while Manu claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Khalsa XI achieved the target in 11 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Amir (28) and Shipu (21) were the main scorers. Justin, Sunny, Nitu and Sonu took 1 wicket each for CSO XI. Kala adjudged man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Sunil Sambyal, Suhail Yusuf, Sandeep Mancha-nda,Vinod and Farooq.
In tomorrow’s fixture, JKP Jr. XI will take on Christian Sports Jr XI in the 2nd match of X-Mas & New Year Under-14 Test Series.
