JAMMU, Sept 5: Union Secretary, Youth Affairs & Sports and Department of Youth Affairs, Upma Chaudhary today chaired a meeting to review programmes, activities of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and NSS of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Director General YSS, State Director NYKS, Deputy Director NYKS, Regional Director NSS, District Youth Coordinators and NSS Programme Officers.
The secretary reviewed the progress and performance of NYKS, NSS, Youth Services & Sports, J&K and stress upon the close coordination among all these departments, District Administration for welfare and development of Youth of J&K State.
Chairperson directed all the concerned departments to work for positive development of Youth and address the Youth issues like skill development, self-employment, drugs de-addiction, youth leadership promotion of sports activities and creation of sports infrastructures at Panchyat Level, Block level, distribution of free of cost sports materials to youth clubs.
She also directed to involve youth in flagship programmes of Government like Beti Bachao – Beti Padao, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Swachh Bharat, Celebration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, training for Disaster Management, youth volunteerism and check on use of polythene.
The Secretary also reviewed the performance of NSS of J&K and requested the department to submit the pending UCs so that funds could be released for NSS activities and programmes at the earliest. She also agreed to consider the proposals of newly established Blocks and Districts of J&K and shall provide the funds for programmes and activities and opening of new NYKs in 8 new Districts.
