JAMMU, Sept 11: A special assembly was held at Lawrence Public School, here today.
Director, United Nations Information Centre, Kiran Mehra Kerpelman and Inspector General of Police (IGP)Jammu, Danesh Rana addressed the Special UN Assembly organized by the students of Lawrence Public School. The highlight of the assembly was the representation of all 193 Countries of the United Nations along with their flags.
The chief guest on the occasion was Danesh Rana where as Vice President Gandhi Global Family, Padamshree SP Verma was the guest of honour.
Mr Rana while appreciating the different flags of the countries described it as spectacular rainbow spreading across the globe. He encouraged the students to take up reading and outdoor sports instead of getting hooked on to electronic gadgets indoors. Director, United Nations Information Centre, Kiran Mehra in her address to the assembly lauded the efforts of students and teachers of Lawrence Public School for the spectacular display and called it an amazing show of solidarity of the United Nations.
Mrs Mehra along with Danesh Rana and vice president Gandhi Global Family, Padamshree SP Varma presented Indo UN Pin to Wg Cdr MM Joshi, Chairman Lawrence Public School and Shakuntla Joshi, Founder Principal for their contribution in the field of education.
