JAMMU, May 27: Scripting a huge win over Jammu, the Udhampur district girls lifted the title trophy in Under-14 girls kho-kho event of the ongoing Divisional Level Inter-District Under-14 and Under-17 Kho-Kho Tournament, which concluded at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here today.
The tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of SS Bali, Deputy Director Jammu, who was the chief guest on the valedictory function. He later-on distributed trophies and certificates among the winners and runners up teams.
While speaking on the occasion, Bali praised the participants for showing spirit, zeal, zest and valour during the tournament despite scorching heat.
Earlier, in Under-14 girls semifinals, Udhampur registered a thrilling win by one point over Reasi, while Jammu also scripted a narrow win by one point against Samba.
Meanwhile, in Under-17 girls final, Jammu outplayed Udhampur by 5 points in an easy contest.
In semifinals, Udhampur trounced Rajouri by one inning and one point, while Jammu beat Samba by 2 points.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Swaran Singh Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Doda, Sukhdev Singh DYSSO, Udhampur, Pushpa Sharma, Manorama Sharma, Sarita Pandha, Veena Tickoo, Jaswant Singh, Rakesh Kakkar, Ajit Singh and Rajesh Sambyal.
