JAMMU, June 12: An Annual Inter Zone District Level Tournament for U-14 girls commenced here today at Sports Stadium Poonch, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports.
The tournament witnessed competitions in various disciplines including Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Chess, Carrom, Badminton and Volleyball.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarters, Aftar Ahmed was the chief guest on this occasion. While addressing the players, he encouraged them to participate with true sportsmanship and emphasized the importance of sports in their lives and advices them to keep themselves away from drug abuse and other anti social activities.
A total of 275 girls from 7 zones actively participated in the competitions. The event witnessed the enthusiastic presence of the district’s field staff, demonstrating their support for the young athletes.
The Annual Inter Zone District Level Tournament was held under the patronage of Subhash Chibber, Director of Youth Services & Sports, J&K Jammu. In Carrom zone Surankote defeated Zone Kunyian by 7 points. In Badminton zone Surankote defeated Zone Poonch by 5 points. In Volleyball, Buffliaz defeated Zone Mandi by 2-0. In Kho Kho Zone Surankote defeated Zone Nangali by 5 points. In Kabaddi Zone Surankote defeated Nanglie Zone by 15 points. In Chess Zone Buffliaz defeated Poonch Zone.
