UDHAMPUR, Oct 1: Two days District Level Inter Block competitions for Under-16 boys, under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA), organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports began at Sports Stadium, here.
Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, District Development Commissioner Udhampur was the chief guest on the occasion and declares the tournament open.
Mohd Suleman Chowdhary, Senior Superintendent of Police and Bishan Singh, Chief Education Officer, Udhampur were the guests of honour.
About 400 boys drawn from 7 Blocks of district Udhampur took part in the competitions.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lavished praise on the organizing committee for its collective efforts to make the tournament a great success. He also extended his best wishes to the participants for their best performance in the tournament.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur, Sudesh Kumar Chalotra presented welcome address.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports, Jahangir Mir, under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director, Jammu and under the supervision of Mr Chalotra, DYSSO Udhampur.
In Kabaddi, Majalta Block defeated Ramnagar Block by 7 points, Panchari Block defeated Dudu Block by 4 points and Majalta Block defeated Panchari Block by 5 points, while in Volleyball final, Majalta Block Panchayat (Khoon) defeated Udhampur Block by (2-1) sets.
Athletic Meet and Wrestling competitions were also held during the 2-day event.
The officiating panel included Kuldeep Kumar, Raj Kumar Gupta, Rakesh Modi, Raj Kumar, Romesh Chander, Raman Kumar, Bandana Sharma, Manik Nargotra, Mohd. Khaled, Gorav Sharma, Narinder Singh, Sushil Kumar Singh, Reena Gupta, Vinod Kumar and Vikrant Balgotra. Among others who were present on the occasion were Usha Bhatt, Ram Lal Badyal, Pawan Kumar, Santosh Kumari, Satish Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Kartar Singh, Ravi Kumari, Satish Chopra, Manager Sports Stadium, Udhampur, Raj Guru, president Volleyball Association Udhampur and Manjula Arora, Principal Girls HSS Udhampur.
