JAMMU, Sept 27: Despite the fact Jammu and Kashmir will take on Kerala in their first Ranji Trophy match of the season on October 1, 2015, the tug of war for reigning the kingdom continues between the two factions of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA)-one led by former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah and another by Minister for Sports, Imran Raza Ansari.
On the one hand, Ansari faction claims that they have been recognized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and on the other hand, Farooq faction claims that BCCI is still seeking legal opinion for granting recognition to any of the factions as the matter lies in the Court of Law.
Anyway, it is unfortunate rather humiliating on the part of entire JKCA that the players have been left in the lurch rather caught in a fix as to who will be their bosses during this season.
Sources said that both the factions organized Camps for Ranji Trophy probables and have selected teams but not disclosed them, adding that the match is just three days away and the Association has yet to announce a team for the prestigious tournament like Ranji Trophy.
Sources further said that everybody in the cricketing fraternity is waiting in the wings for the outcome of any decision from the Court to make an end to this customary chaos and confusion in JKCA.
“The factionalism in JKCA has marred cricketing talent in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, which otherwise, is striving hard to craft a space on the country’s sports map. Despite producing International stuff in Rasools, Khajurias and Chauhans, JKCA hardly withdraws from its jaundiced policies to leave the cricketers in the lurch,” said top JKCA official on the condition of anonymity.
“In such circumstances, what would be going on in the minds of all the boys who have to face formidable team of Kerala just after three days. In such a polluted atmosphere, how can they focus on the game. To perform in such an uncongenial atmosphere is like crying for the moon or is simply an uphill task,” said SAI cricket coach on the condition of anonymity.
Sources added that after a fabulous show in some of the matches last year, especially a historic victory against the 40-time Ranji Trophy champions, Mumbai, one feels pity over the trauma JKCA is going through.
Meanwhile, the members from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will visit here tomorrow to inspect the grounds ahead of proposed Ranji Trophy matches to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
”A BCCI delegation will be arriving here tomorrow to inspect the condition of the grounds,” sources in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association said.
With BCCI also in dilemma after the death of its president, Jagmohan Dalmiya, the vote bank policy can affect all its affiliate units in the present scenario.
Now, the ball is in the court of Law and it is the court only which will decide the legality of these groups and help players to enjoy the game without the dirt of politics.
