Tigers XI Jammu lifts ‘Vinod Koul Memorial T20’ title

JAMMU, June 26: Getting the better of Jagti Oriental Cricket Club (JOCC) by 3 wickets in the summit clash, Tigers XI Jammu lifted the title trophy of Vinod Koul Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Akshay Kaul at Playfield Jagti, near here today.
In-charge Police Post Jagti, ASI BK Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, while social activist Digamber Raina was the guest of honour.
Earlier, batting first, JOCC scored 116 by losing 9 wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, Tigers XI chased the target easily in 12 overs by losing 7 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 3 wickets. For his all-round display, Rajat Safaya was adjudged as the man of the match, while for his good batting show, Ashu Bhat was declared as the best batsman. Sumesh Bhat was named best fielder.
The chief guest and the guest of honour distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams. The organisers also presented a cash prize of Rs 500 each to all the members of both the teams and cash prize along with trophies were given to umpires and commentators.
The event was organised with a twin purpose of guiding youth not to fall prey to drugs and other allied social evils rather not to derail from the mainstream and encouraging the persevering sporting spirit of Late Vinod Koul, IIT alumnus from J&K. Rita Kaul, wife of late Vinod Koul sponsored the event.
