Three days Tabla Workshop concludes

JAMMU, Dec 19: Jammu is a land of Art and Artists, which had produced towering artists in every field of Art like Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Alla Rakha Khan, Padma Sachdev, Ved Rahi and others who had not only brought laurels to Jammu only but at national level too their contributions in the field of Art and Culture have been widely appreciated.
This was stated by eminent Tabla Player of Banaras Gharana, Pt Sukhamoy Banerjee during the valedictory function of three days Tabla Workshop for which he was the resource person.
The workshop was organized by Tabla Department of Institute of Music and Fine Arts, University of Jammu. Pandit Sukhamoy Banerjee further said that he has enjoyed a lot with the Tabla students of new generation.
“The students have a lot of talent and to explore their talents more workshops needed to be organized”, Pandit Sukhamoy Banerjee added.
Principal of the IMFA, Prof Shohab Inayat Malik distributed the certificates among the participants of the workshop. He described Pt Sukhmay Banerjee a reputed Tabla Player of the country who has a lot of experience in the field of Tabla. The students must have learnt many more new dimensions about Tabla playing from Pt Banerjee.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Priya Dutta discussed the aims and objectives of organizing such types of workshops. She said that organizing workshops in the guidance of renowned artists like Sukhamoy Banerjee definitely improves the quality of education among the students.
Nearly 40 students participated in the workshop.
Besides Dr Priya Dutta, Raj Kumar Behrupia, Rajesh Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Shivani Kapoor, Akashman and Amit Anand coordinated in organizing the whole workshop.
