JAMMU, Oct 1: Five members of the motorcycle club “The Bull Rider’s Cafe Jammu (TBRCJ)” carried out 9-days monsoon ride in the beautiful and toughest part of Himachal Pradesh’s Spiti Valley.
The ride was full of challenges as the riders faced rainfall, bad roads, shooting stones and water crossing during the 2000 km distance they covered from Jammu. The riders started from Jammu on 29th August and passed through the beautiful Kangra and Mandi districts, Jalori pass at an altitude of 10800 feet to reach the dangerous cliffs of Kinnaur region visiting the last Indian village Chitkul enroute.
They had to cover the highly landslide prone Shalkar-Sumdo stretch to enter the heaven i.e Spiti Valley. They visited Gue Monastery which houses a 550-year-old mummy of a lama, oldest monasteries at Tabo and Key, world’s highest village Komic, world’s highest post office at Hikkim along with remote and less traveled Demul and Langza village. They crossed Kumzum pass at an altitude of 15060 feet to reach the beautiful Chandertaal lake which is the source to Chandra and Chenab rivers.
The toughest part of the ride was from Chandertal to Manali stretch. They had couple of falls during this stretch but luckily no one was injured. This 60 km stretch took them 6 hours to complete. They crossed Rohtang Pass at an altitude of 13050 feet to enter Manali and then back to Jammu.
Founder and President of the Club Vikramjeet Singh Manhas sais, “Our Club’s tagline is “Live Life Bull Size” and for that they have to be strong and fearless like a bull.
“We will organize more of such trips in coming months and also looking forward for working with the Jammu Tourism Department for promoting adventure tourism in Jammu region”, Manhas added.
Manhas is the first rider from Jammu to have completed the Spiti Valley motorcycle trips in all seasons–Summer, Winter and Monsoon.
